The brief for this project was to create a planting scheme that would be extremely low maintenance and also effective in softening the development from the street.
Located not far from Dee Why beach the vegetation on this project needed to be hardy, salt tolerant, and in some instances, able to survive in very small amounts of growing media. Predominantly, groundcovers and small shrubbery plants were used in the rooftop garden areas while the larger species and trees were restricted to the street frontages below.
Representative of coastal landscapes these heathy gardens will grow to engulf the building, forming a tapestry of colours, textures, and accents that will ultimately give viewers a visual feast from the inside out.
The bathroom areas on this project incorporated hidden ‘Zen’ gardens to create a tranquil aesthetic. Viewed from behind ceiling to floor glass panels these gardens flow seamlessly in and allows the viewer to become totally immersed in the landscape beyond. With large stone boulders and individually selected accent plants these gardens are a real triumph.
